This study was attempted to investigate the content and discriminant validity opf a Korean version of the Beck depression inventory(K-BDI) and to provide the sensitivity, specificity and efficiency tabele according to cutting scores, which may be
useful
to determine the optimal cutoff point on various purposes. K-BDI was administered to 432 psychiatric patients(113 schizophrenic, 55 bipolar disorder, 93 major depression, 86 substance use disorder, 24 anxiety disorder 28 somatoform disorder)and
94
general population.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) Internal consistency(Cronbach's alpha 0.80-0.90) was excellent.
2) Total score, each item score, and subscale score of K-BDI were significantly high in the major depression group and there were no significant differences among the other psychiatric disorders.
3) Using T 65 as the cut-of point, sensitivity was 66.7%, specificity was 82.5%, and overall efficiency was 80.04%.
Above results suggest that K-BDI has a good content and discriminant validity, and that the score of T65 may be useful as the optimal cut-off point in clinical setting or research purpose. We provide the sensitivity, specificity and efficiency
table
according to cutting scores, which may be usefule to determine the optimal cut-off point on various purposes.
